Instead of paying a licensing fee, Ford chose to sell the “Mustang” under It’s original project name “T-5”. Ford retooled special pieces for this car... the gas cap, steering wheel and trade mark “T-5” emblem. No where on the car did it say “Mustang”. In 1968, 480 “T-5’s” were built and shipped to Germany.
